Toy Fair gets me all excited

This isn’t my story. I swiped it from SciFi Wire because, well, they’re awesome and they get to cover events that I never will. Or at least, i can’t see myself doing it in the near or far near future. The distant future is still within the realm of possibilities but enough rambling.

A lot of the major toy companies exhibiting at American International Toy Fair (which just finished its annual four-day run in New York City) like to focus on the old stand-by properties like Star Wars or DC and Marvel action figures, as well as tie-ins for upcoming movies for the calendar year.

But in the last few years, more companies are going against the grain creating collectibles out of classic sci-fi properties with niche but dedicated fan bases.

We found a few very cool pieces for sci-fi lovers that celebrate the collectible road less traveled. Click on the images for larger versions.
